Advocare 24 Day Challenge

Hey everyone!! So, I have been talking a lot lately about becoming healthy! We have been working diligently to change our diet and work out as much as our schedule and bodies allow. Yay for "Shedding for the Wedding"! What has been a great help and an awesome motivator to us are Advocare products. Back in January of this year we started the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. Van and I lost a combined 30 pounds in 24 days!! We got off track for a few months after, but decided to give it another go this month. About 8 days ago we started the 10 day cleanse, which is the first part of the 24 day challenge. Now, whenever I had heard cleanse, I thought "Oh My God what is that going to do to me?!" This one is SO gentle though, and the best part! You can eat during it! Its not a juice cleanse or one where you eat soup for every meal. YOU EAT! A LOT! Lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and lots and lots of water. The biggest part of the challenge is preparation. I used to laugh at my dad for always telling me to remember my 5 P's. "Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance". Well, its true haha.

A typical day of eating during the challenge:

Breakfast: 2 Eggs and Fruit
Snack: Fruit or Almonds or Spark
Lunch: BIG SALAD!
Snack: More Fruit/Veggies/Almonds
Dinner: Lean Protein and Cooked Veggies
Snack: If you need it-same as earlier snacks

Days 1-3 and 7-10 of the cleanse you have a Fiber Drink in the morning. It is delicious not that bad. I mix mine with orange juice in half portions. I am entirely incapable of chugging or drinking anything fast. Van doesn't have a problem with it. But, it gets thick like a gel if you let it sit, so whatever you have to do to get it down, do it! And use COLD water! We are on day 8, so only 2 more Fiber Drinks to go!!

One of the other perks of Avocare is the Spark!
It is like a little energy drink with vitamins. The real kind! Haha. They have so many flavors to chose from. I like Watermelon and Mango Strawberry. They get you going and help you focus without that sugar buzz high and then sudden crash like most others give you.

So far Van has lost 9 pounds, and I have lost 4! Our cleanse is almost over, and then we move on to the next 14 days. It consists of Meal Replacement Shake flavors and Vitamin packets that guide you though the day along with your meals! I will keep everyone posted on our results as we keep going.

Check out the products HERE at our distributor page!

I will try to make a few posts of recipes or meals that we eat during the challenge!

Check back soon!

Better Late Than Never

My name is Megan, and it has been 7 months since my last blog post. SORRY! I figured its time to start back up again! So much has happened in those 7 months! We have continued on our quest to be healthier people. Our most recent change has been to start Crossfit. Has anyone ever tried it? It is like one massive reality check. It is so worth it though! After you finish a WOD (Workout of the Day) you feel so proud of yourself for not dying haha. We have made the decision to downsize to a smaller apartment for 9 months while we save more money toward our house purchase. And the MOST important thing? Van and I got engaged!! We went to Seattle, Washington and he proposed at the top of the Space Needle. He did such a good job.

A little "in heaven" after the proposal picture.

Van had it all set up that a photographer, Laurel, from Laurel McConnell Photography, would capture this most important moment in our lives. He seemed so nervous on our way there. I thought it was because we were in a new city, in traffic, late for a dinner reservation. Hah! Nope! Its because he was worried about the massive ring box in his back pocket and keeping his little plan a secret from me! Take a look HERE at Laurel's blog for our story and the pictures from the impromptu photo session after!

Off to wedding plan...
